Pine Acres Woolstock Mattress Top

Care Instructions

With proper care your Pine Acres Woolstock Mattress Top will last for years.
Wool, being a natural breathable fiber, is one of the healthiest and most
comfortable choices for bedding and it is easily cared for.

To initially use your top, center it on your mattress, placing it right under
the bottom fitted sheet. When the top is first placed on the mattress it may
look thick and undersized. This is normal. The dimensions will expand in
length and width during the first few weeks of sleep as the wool fibers
compress and settle into a soft and inviting cushion. By then the top
will be slightly smaller than the mattress, about an inch or two from
each edge of the mattress sides, working well under the fitted sheet.

During the first few weeks of use flip the top over and/or rotate around every
couple of weeks. This will promote even settling of the fibers as you sleep.
Once the mattress top has "settled in", continue this practice of flipping and/or
rotating each time sheets are changed.

Since wool is an active fiber, the best care you can give your top is allowing
it to "breathe". Every few months hang the top outdoors in the fresh air
on a nice sunny day. Fresh air flowing through the fibers allows any moisture
to evaporate and sunshine is Mother Nature's natural sanitizer.

The top may be spot washed if needed by gently sponging with a clean damp
cloth and mild soap. Line-dry only. Never put the top in a dryer as the
wool will felt. Dry cleaning is not recommended as the chemicals used may
harshen and deteriorate the wool fibers.

Whenever you choose, your wool mattress top may be completely reconditioned.
After the wool is removed, the cotton cover can be laundered (machine wash
warm, non-chorine bleach, tumble dry warm), pressed and reused. Send the
wool to a carding mill to be washed and re-carded (i.e., refluffed). This will
restore the wool to its original loft. Then assemble the top following the
assembly instructions.
